• Downers Grove says farewell to the Mayor of Main Street (shawlocal.com) — Main Street in Downers Grove is mourning longtime Hof Cleaners owner Chris Karathanasis, affectionately known as the unofficial "Mayor of Main Street," who died in early September at 55. Family, neighboring business owners, and friends recall his generosity toward customers and vulnerable neighbors, while his daughter and son-in-law have moved back to keep the nearly century-old Main Street shop and his community-focused legacy alive.
