Pedestrian Killed By Freight Train Near Main Street Station
One person is dead after a pedestrian-train crash that took place early Wednesday in downtown Downers Grove.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — An early incident Wednesday left one person dead after they were hit by a freight train near the Main Street station in Downers Grove.
Police were called to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe crossing just after 2:15 a.m. for a report of a pedestrian who had been hit by a train. Per initial investigations, the person, who was pronounced dead at the scene, had been spotted walking along the railroad tracks when a freight train heading east struck them.
The name of the pedestrian who was killed is being withheld pending notification of their family.
