Retail Thefts At TJ Maxx, Golf Galaxy In Downers Grove

Shoplifters hit two stores in Downers Grove in a matter of three days, police say.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Shoplifters targeted two stores in Downers Grove in a matter of three days, according to the police blotter for early August.

The first incident took place on Aug. 3 at Golf Galaxy, 1434 Butterfield Rd. Police were called to the store just after 1 p.m. for a report of a retail theft.

Store staff said a woman came into the store and took off the driver of a Ping G440 and put it in her purse. Police say she left the scene in a black Mazda.

On Aug. 5, police were called to the TJ Maxx at 7349 Lemont Rd. for a retail theft. According to the police blotter, two women had filled carts with housewares, fragrances and clothing before trying to leave the store.

When police got to the scene, the women were in the TJ Maxx store's security office. One woman was cited with retail theft and the other was charged.
