Drive-By Shooting In Oak Park Wounds 2 Men Who Then Walk Half Hour To Hospital: Report

Two men were shot near the intersection of Austin and Garfield on the edge of Oak Park Wednesday afternoon.

OAK PARK, IL — Oak Park Police are investigating a shooting that left two men injured Wednesday afternoon. The shooting took place near the intersection of Austin and Garfield just after 1 p.m. After the suspects fled, the victims, both 21, walked more than a half hour to West Suburban Medical Center for emergency care.

The victims, one of Richton Park, one of Chicago, told Oak Park Police that they were driving south on Garfield St. when the shooter got out of another car and began firing at their vehicle, Wednesday Journal reports. One of the victims was shot in the shoulder and the other sustained a bullet wound to the arm, according to Chicago Tribune. Both are expected to make a full recovery.

Police arrived at the scene of the shooting after the victims had made their way to the hospital. The only sign of the offenders was shards of glass and shell casings on the ground, according to Chicago Tribune. Oak Park Police are still investigating the incident.
