Sandy Cristobal Named Assistant Principal Of Highland Elementary

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Sandy Cristobal was recently announced as the new assistant principal at Highland Elementary School. Cristobal was also named the curriculum coordinator for Downers Grove Grade School District 58.

“We are thrilled to announce the recommendation of Sandy Cristobal as the new Highland School assistant principal and District curriculum coordinator!” Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Justin Sisul in a news release.

Sisul added, “Sandy is a native Spanish speaker and has previously taught bilingual students. Through three rounds of interviews, she impressed our team with her student-centered approach, her broad experiences (which align extremely well with the role she will hold in District 58), her positivity, enthusiasm and warm, caring demeanor.”

Cristobal previously worked as the assistant principal at Manning and Miller Elementary Schools in Westmont Community Unit District 201. Her background includes working as a bilingual and elementary ESL teacher for South Berwyn School District 100 and Morton Grove School District 70.

Prior to starting her career, Cristobal earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education at North Central College and a master's degree in educational leadership at North Park University.

Cristobal's appointments will become effective July 1.
