Semi Full Of Sausages Stolen In Downers Grove: Cops

Police say the driver left his semi trailer in a parking lot and returned to find it missing.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL --- Police in Downers Grove are investigating an incident in which a semi trailer full of sausages was apparently stolen from a parking lot. The victim told police they had left the trailer unattended Friday afternoon in the 2600 block of Warrenville Road and returned Monday morning to discover that it was missing.

According to police, the driver had been contracted to deliver frozen sausages from Iowa to the Chicago suburbs, but decided to leave the trailer in a parking lot when he found out the delivery location didn't reopen until Monday. He reportedly disconnected his cab from the trailer and drove to his house in Lisle.

Police say the victim contacted several towing companies, including the one that services the lot where his trailer had been parked. When he was unable to locate the trailer with any towing companies, he contacted police to report it stolen.
