State Bicentennial Flag Raising Planned For Downers Grove
Downers Grove will hold a special flag raising ceremony on Dec. 4 to mark the state's bicentennial.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Illinois is set to mark its bicentennial in 2018 and Downers Grove will join other villages, towns, and cities in a ceremonial raising of the state's special Bicentennial Flag. The ceremony will take place on Monday, December 4 at noon at the Downers Grove Village Hall.
Mayor Martin Tully will make an official proclamation to herald the raising of the flag and the Downers Grove Choral Society will be on hand to perform the Illinois State song. Throughout the free event, Downers Grove villagers can snack on pumpkin pie, which is the state's official pie, and indulge in other refreshments.
