Student Wields Gun In Snapchat Video Threatening School: Cops

The student is accused of posting a threatening video on Snapchat Thursday while school was canceled due to weather.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL --A Downers Grove North student faces felony charges after authorities say he posted a Snapchat video of himself holding a handgun and threatening students. Police were made aware of the video Thursday and took the student into custody shortly after.

In a statement, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin stressed how seriously such threats are taken. Berlin said, "Any threat to the well-being of our students and teachers will be fully investigated and anyone suspected of such behavior will quickly find themselves standing before a judge."

The student accused of making the Snapchat threat, a minor, has been charged with a felony count of disorderly conduct for making a threat to a school. He has also been charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
