Tobacco Shop Robbed At Knifepoint In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove police are asking for the public's help identifying a man who robbed a tobacco store at knifepoint late Sunday morning. The armed robbery took place at American Tobacco and Vape, 4242 Main St.

Police say a man came into the store just after 11:45 a.m. and displayed a knife to an employee while demanding cash. The man then left the store and fled on foot with $200 cash from the robbery, heading northbound on Main Street.

Surveillance footage from the incident depicts the suspect, according to police. He was last seen wearing a navy-colored hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes, along with a black ski mask that partially covered his face.
