Village Assesses Storm Damage
Power is out for 3,000 Downers Grove ComEd customers.

The village announced it will removed debris only from trees on public property, leaving homeowners to bundle or bag and sticker fallen branches resulting from this morning's severe thunderstorm
In automated calls and emails to subscribers, the village also said 3,000 ComEd customers are without power in Downers Grove. Crews are working to restore the outage, but no timeframe for restoration has been determined, the village said. Residents are urged to call the village at 630-434-500 to report downed power lines.
The village said it completed an assessment of today's storm damage and will clear debris only from trees on public property. "Public works crews are clearing debris to open streets and firms contracted by the village are clearing hanging parkway tree branches," the village said. "Clean up is expected to take one week."

Following that storm, the village and its contractors removed fallen trees and branches from both public and private property. However, today's thunderstorm damage fell short of the criteria necessary to institute a village-wide collection of debris, according to the village website.

Private property storm debris will be picked up on the regular waste collection schedule. For residents facing major tree damage, the village has posted alist of licensed tree removal companies.
