Downers Grove Seeks Handmade Ornaments For Holiday Tree

The deadline to send your ornaments is Nov. 8.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The chill in the weather means the winter holidays will be upon us before we know it. With that, comes the annual call for ornaments to adorn the Downers Grove Holiday Tree.

The village is asking residents to make and send homemade ornaments that will be placed on the holiday tree in 2019. Be advised that ornaments will not be returned to residents.

Here are the guidelines for the handmade holiday ornaments:

  • Must be 8 inches or more in diameter and made from weatherproof materials
  • No heavy materials or materials with sharp edges or pointy ends
  • Ornaments must be hung on looped string or twine that is 10-12 inches long

To get your ornament displayed on the village holiday tree, send it and the form to: Public Works, 5101 Walnut Ave., Downers Grove.
