WESTMONT, IL — A Westmont man was arrested Tuesday in connection with an Aug. 10 event in which police say he fled officers in a car and crashed into a home.

Ronald Neal, 20, was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding in connection with the Aug. 10 incident.

Police say they attempted to pull Neal over around 12:15 a.m. on Aug. 10 after they noticed he had no headlights on as he left a parking lot near 59th Street. Neal is accused of ignoring an officer's signal to put on his headlights, which prompted the officer to try to pull him over.

"This case is a textbook example of what I have been saying all along,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release.

Berlin added, “If you hear sirens and see flashing lights behind you, pull over. Not doing so will not only make matters worse, but also puts all those involved as well as innocent people at risk. Mr. Neal’s alleged actions most certainly made matters worse for himself and put the occupants of the home at great risk. While the home sustained substantial damage, we are thankful no one was injured when Mr. Neal allegedly crashed his car into the home."

Neal is set to appear in court Oct. 30.
