Windows Smashed On 2 Cars In Downers Grove: Police

Police say thousands of dollars in items were stolen from one of the cars.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Police in Downers Grove are investigating two separate incidents in which car windows were shattered. Items were stolen from one of the cars, according to the Downers Grove Police Department's crime blotter.

Officers were called to the 7300 block of Grand Avenue around 1:22 p.m. for a report of a vehicle burglary. According to police, the victim told them the rear window of their Jeep Grand Cherokee had been shattered and someone had stolen a car scanner and a tool set. Police say wires had also been pulled out of the car's engine battery.

The total loss was valued at $3,000.

Later that day, a woman reported that someone had broken into her vehicle while it was parked in a garage in the 900 block of Curtiss Street. The victim told police she got off work around 6 p.m. and noticed the back window of her was shattered. Police say it appeared nothing had been taken from the car.
