Woman Blames Downers Grove Pizza Hut For Fall In Lawsuit
Lawsuit alleges that restaurant violated village ordinance by not providing signage or visual cues for extra step, causing woman to fall.

A woman is seeking damages for injuries she claims to have suffered from a fall at a Downers Grove restaurant in October 2013.
Attorneys for Judith Browning, the plaintiff, filed a lawsuit in DuPage County Circuit Court on Sept. 11, against Franchise Management Investors US LLC, which operates several Pizza Hut restaurants in the the Chicago area.
Browning says that she fell down on the floor at the Pizza Hut located at 1560 75th St. in Downers Grove, because the restaurant failed to properly warn patrons of an extra step in the restaurant.

According to the lawsuit, Pizza Hut was negligent because the restaurant did not post a “watch your step” sign or accent lighting illuminating the step.
Browning’s attorneys claim the owners violated a village ordinance, which requires public venues to provide a “tread contrasting marking stripe” along the edge of the step, signifying the change in flooring.

As a result of her fall, the lawsuit maintains that Browning suffered severe injuries and mental anguish “causing her to spend money.”
Browning is seeking $50,000 or more in damages from Pizza Hut.
