2 Men Killed in South Elgin Crash Identified
The crash happened Sunday morning on northbound Route 31 in South Elgin.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office has identified the two men killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday in South Elgin.
Mario Ramirez-Hernandez, 27, of Arlington Heights, and Rohit Singh, 31, whose address is unknown, died as a result of “multiple injuries” following the crash on Route 31 north of McLean Boulevard in South Elgin, according to results from a preliminary investigation by the Kane County Coroner’s Office.
The crash occurred on northbound Route 31 at about 5:45 a.m. when a car went off the roadway, struck two trees and split in two, according to the Daily Herald. Both Hernandez and Singh were pronounced dead at the scene and a third man in the vehicle was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.

The cause of death in the double fatality remains under investigation by the Kane County Coroner’s Office. Autopsies conducted on both of the men Monday revealed they died of “multiple injuries.” Toxicology samples were drawn and sent to a forensic laboratory for analysis, according to a coroner’s office.
