Man Arrested for Driving Drunk in Stolen Vehicle: Police

ELGIN, IL - A 24-year-old Elgin man accused of stealing two vehicles in Elgin in recent months was arrested for drunken driving after authorities pulled him over in one of the stolen vehicles.

Jonathan Nunez has been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, a class 2 felony, following his arrest in Bellwood.

Authorities put an alert out on two stolen vehicles after a 2000 Honda was stolen from the 200 block of South Grove Ave. on Feb. 12 and a 1995 Oldsmobile was stolen from the same area on Feb. 19, according to an Elgin Police Department press release. Local police were notified that the Bellwood Police Department had arrested Nunez, who was driving the stolen Oldsmobile at the time, for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Nunez was later arrested in Kane County for stealing the vehicles. He was expected to appear in bond court Thursday.
