64-Year-Old Arrested Outside York High: Cops
In another case, a woman was charged with domestic battery after hitting a man, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst handled cases involving disorderly conduct, domestic battery, a scam involving an explicit photo, retail theft and check fraud. Here is information from the latest police reports:
Disorderly conduct
- John West, 64, of Addison, was cited about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday outside York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road, on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was released on bond.

- Hazel Sanders, 20, of Chicago, was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at Extended Stay America, 550 W. Grand Ave., on two counts of domestic battery and one count of consumption of alcohol by a minor. Police said Sanders struck a man during an argument. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Explicit photo
- A resident in the 400 block of West Grantley Avenue told police Tuesday that he sent an explicit photo to a stranger. The stranger then demanded money from the resident under the threat that the stranger would post the photo on social media.

- A woman stole items about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mariano's, 678 N. York St. She was described as Hispanic with black hair and wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, white gym shoes, a black face mask and a burgundy winter hat. An investigation is pending.
Car towed
- A car that was parked in front of a fire hydrant at Win Auto Plaza, 704 W. Lake St., was towed Tuesday for being a hazard. The car's owner was notified. In December, Elmhurst issued a chronic nuisance warning to the dealership.
Identity theft
- Two people entered BMO Bank, 1121 S. York St., and tried to use a fake Illinois driver's license to access a money market account at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. They were unsuccessful.
- A resident in the 100 block of North Addison told police Tuesday that she received a notice in the mail from Bank of America indicating a drop in her credit score. She then discovered two debt collections from outstanding apartment leases in Florida and numerous credit inquiries without her authorization. An investigation is pending.
Check fraud
- A resident in the 100 block of South Oakland Grove told police Monday he mailed a check to the city of Elmhurst on Feb. 14. The resident then received an overdraft notice from BMO Bank and learned the mailed check was intercepted and altered. An investigation is pending.
Trip and fall
- A man tripped and fell while walking on the sidewalk about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday near Parkside and Butterfield. He was taken to the hospital. Police found no visible defects on the sidewalk.
Suspicious
- A woman told police Tuesday that she found footprints on the exteriors of the screen door and the heavy door at her parents' house in the 600 block of South Poplar Avenue. Nothing appeared to be missing. No entry was made to the house.
Gift card scam
- On Tuesday, an employee of a business at 832 N. Industrial Drive received an email from his purported boss requesting him to buy three Footlocker gift cards for one of their clients. After sending the gift card information, the employee realized it was a scam.
Fugitive driver
- An officer tried to stop a car shortly after midnight Thursday at Lake Street and Route 83. The driver sped away, last seen headed east on Interstate 290 from Route 83.
