Armed Robber Stole from Store Registers, Put Employees in Bathroom: Police
A man who implied he had a weapon announced a robbery July 15 at Dress Barn in Elmhurst.

Elmhurst, IL — Elmhurst police are investigating a reported armed robbery that took place July 15 inside Dress Barn, 167 S. Route 83 in Elmhurst.
The robber first entered the store at 8:25 p.m. while other customers were inside the store, according to Elmhurst police.
He told employees he was looking for a dress for his wife, but he left the store. He returned later, around 8:30 p.m., when there were no customers present, and he announced a robbery and implied he had a weapon.

The man had the employees open the cash registers, and he then gathered them inside a bathroom. The man ran away in a northern direction, police reported.
Police were not immediately able to find the man, who is described as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 200 pounds with a large build, short black hair and a clean shaven face. He was wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, army green pants and a black, gray and red baseball cap, police reported.
