In September 2020, Patch obtained the Elmhurst police report about the Cefolia case. The police department said Cefolia was under investigation at the time he went missing, but it did not reveal the nature of the case.

At United Airlines, Cefolia was senior vice president of worldwide sales, leading more than 700 employees. Months ago, his name was removed from the roster of corporate executives.
