Car Dealer Wants To Come To Elmhurst

The dealership would not "significantly decrease" nearby property values, the company said.

ELMHURST, IL – A company with car dealerships in Chicago, Burbank and Palos Hills wants to set up shop in Elmhurst.

Baha Auto Sales is seeking the city's permission to operate at 505 W. Grand Ave., which is at Grand and Old Grand Avenue.

According to a city memo, the property was first developed as a Saturn dealership. After its closing, it was converted to office space.

Baha Auto Sales plans to renovate the building to include a showroom and service department, similar to the former dealership. No additions are proposed.

In its application, Baha said it would not conduct test drives in the nearby neighborhood.

The company said the dealership would not "significantly decrease or undermine the values of properties within the surrounding neighborhood."

The city's Zoning and Planning Commission unanimously approved the request last week.

The City Council's Development, Planning and Zoning Committee plans to review the proposal at its meeting Tuesday. The full council has the final say.
