Car Dealership Burglaries Reported: Elmhurst Police
Five suspects were caught on surveillance footage. Nothing was reported stolen.
ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst police responded to break-ins at two car dealerships early Monday morning. Nothing was reported missing, but doors were broken.
Officers first responded to a burglary alarm at Elmhurst BMW, 500 W. Lake St., shortly after 3 a.m. They found a broken glass door on the northeast corner and an open service bay door. Surveillance cameras captured images of five suspects.
Minutes after that call, one of the officers responded to a burglary at Napleton Acura, 745 W. Lake St., and found broken glass on a front service bay door.

The five suspects were described as black males. The first was carrying a crow bar and wearing a black ski mask, a white hooded sweatshirt, a black coat, black pants with a white strip down the sides, black gym shoes and gray gloves. The second was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, black gloves, black pants and black shoes. The third was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, black pants, black gloves and black shoes. The fourth had on a black hooded sweatshirt with a Gap logo, light blue jeans, black gym shoes and red gloves. The fifth was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, black pants, black shoes, red gloves and a black ski mask.
The suspects were in two cars — a gray Chrysler 300 and a blue Chevrolet Trailblazer, police said.

- Michael S. Hollins, 29, of Chicago, was arrested shortly after 4 a.m. Jan. 6 in the 400 block of York Street on a charge of DUI. He was released on bond. According to police report, an officer found Hollins asleep behind wheel in the parking lot at 476 N. York St. Hollins had an open Modelo bottle in the center cup holder. Hollins said he had been drinking at a friend's house and thought he was in Chicago.
- Sharon Holliday, 37, of Villa Park, was arrested shortly before 4 a.m. Jan. 6 at Villa and Albert on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding. She was found to have two valid warrants from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office. She was released on bond.
- Yesica Salazar Mercado, 26, of Franklin Park, was arrested shortly before 3 p.m. Jan. 6 in the 100 block of West Grand on charges of driving with a suspended license, driving too fast for conditions and operating a vehicle in unsafe condition. She was released on bond.
- Shaquille Archibaldo, 26, of Warrenville, was arrested about 3:30 a.m. Jan. 7 at Extended Stay America in Elmhurst on a warrant and on a charge of solicitation of a sexual act. Officers were originally responding to a robbery, but it was actually a solicitation of a prostitute. Archibaldo was released to the Rosemont Police Department. In connection with the case, Jennifer Diaz, 22, of Chicago, was arrested on a charge of prostitution. She was released on bond. Also arrested at the hotel was David Williams, 34, of Chicago, on a charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Police said they found ecstasy in his car. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- Christopher Wright, 53, of Elmhurst, was arrested shortly before 5 p.m. Jan. 7 at Addison and Third on a warrant. He was released on bond.
- Manuel A. Marin, 19, of Berwyn, was arrested shortly after 11 a.m. Jan. 8 at Maple and North on a charge of underage possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle. He was released on bond.
- A Bobcat snowplow bucket was reported stolen Jan. 7 in the northeastern part of the storage lot at a business at 915 Riverside. The theft took place between Dec. 15 and Jan. 7.
- A sewer camera, monitor and portable generator were set up by a company in the 700 block of South Euclid. While workers were occupied, a suspect removed the equipment from the site between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Jan. 8.
