Counterfeit Bills Used At DiLeo's Pizza, Dunkin' In Elmhurst

Police say two men with similar descriptions entered the neighboring businesses nine minutes apart.

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst police are investigating two reports of counterfeit money having been used at two different food establishments on the same day. The following reports were submitted in the daily Elmhurst Police Department bulletin for August 2.

At 12:35 p.m. at DiLeo's Pizza, 193 E. Butterfield two men walked in and bought a slice of pizza using $20 bills that were later determined to be counterfeit. The suspects received $13.46 apiece in change, so the business was forced to report a $26.92 loss as a result of the incident.

Police say both suspects were described as black men between 19 and 22 years old with a dark complexion wearing gray t-shirts and jeans. One of the men had a tattoo of RR (Rolls Royce) on his face and neck and an unknown tattoo over one of his eyebrows.

Just nine minutes earlier at 12:26 p.m., police say two men with similar descriptions entered the Dunkin' Donuts next door at 195 E. Butterfield.

The duo entered the store, purchased a donut using a counterfeit $20 bill and received $18.63 in change. They then requested two additional counterfeit $20 bills to be broken down to smaller bills, making the total loss $58.63.
