A Dead End For Elmhurst Burglary Suspect: Cops
A man took a ride-share to a dealership to steal a particular car, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst burglary suspect may not have consulted a map beforehand, a police report indicates.
About 2 p.m. Sunday, two employees of Win Auto Plaza, 704 W. Lake St., returned a car to the dealership and found a man in the back parking lot stealing a blue Infiniti coupe, according to an Elmhurst police news release.
One employee called 911, while the other followed the stolen car.

The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Joshua M. Pickett of Chicago, mistakenly turned onto a dead end on Mary Court, which is a block away, police said.
The employee tried to block the Infiniti with his car while Pickett sped up in an attempt to pass the employee, the news release said. The two cars collided.

Pickett ran away, but was found less than 20 minutes later a few blocks away at West and Lorraine avenues, police said.
Police said Pickett entered the closed dealership by breaking through a glass door and then removed the Infiniti's key. He is also accused of damaging the dealership's security camera system.
Pickett took a ride-share service to the dealership, planning to steal the particular Infiniti, police said.
Pickett was charged with burglary, theft of property valued at more than $10,000, possession of a stolen vehicle and two counts of criminal property damage, police said.
Pickett was taken to the DuPage County Jail. He was no longer in the jail as of Tuesday morning.
