Democrats Still Invest Big In Elmhurst Hopeful

The money is far short of the party's contributions to the district two years ago.

ELMHURST, IL – Over five days late last month, state Democratic groups donated another $129,000 in the Elmhurst-based race for state representative.

That's in addition to the $172,000 that the Democrats have already contributed to the campaign of Jenn Ladisch Douglass of Elmhurst. The total now exceeds $300,000.

That's still far short of the $741,000 that Clarendon Hills Democrat Jennifer Zordani raised from her party in 2020.

In recent years, the Elmhurst-based House district, which includes part of Hinsdale, has been seen as a battleground.

But Mazzochi took 54 percent of the vote in 2020 against Zordani. And that was considered a good year for Democrats nationwide, especially in suburbs.

With President Joe Biden's approval ratings sagging, Mazzochi is likely running in a better environment this time around.
