Disturbance, Chronic Nuisance: Elmhurst Police

Officers responded to a man bothering a resident in a local neighborhood, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a disturbance, a chronic nuisance, a theft of a catalytic converter, an abandoned bicycle, a shattered window and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Disturbance

  • Police responded to a disturbance about 12:30 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of South Spring Road. A woman said a suspect was in her garage and banging on the door. The woman said the suspect was not allowed on the property. The suspect was issued a no-trespass notice and asked not to return.

  • Police issued a chronic nuisance warning Wednesday to a household in the 300 block of South West Avenue. Last week, a man from that same block was arrested on child pornography charges. It was unclear whether the chronic nuisance warning was issued to the same house.

Damage

  • An employee at York High School was cutting the grass when a rock hit the window of a parked car about 9 a.m. Monday.

Gunshot wound

  • Elmhurst Hospital reported a patient with a gunshot wound Monday. An officer met with the man, who said he was shot in Chicago. The Cook County Sheriff's Office was notified of the victim's status.

Stolen converter

  • Someone stole a catalytic converter from a black Nissan van between 5 p.m. Monday and noon Tuesday in front of the garage of the building at 909 S. Route 83.

Sidewalk fall

  • A woman tripped over an elevated part of a sidewalk and fell about 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of Stratford Avenue. She was taken to the hospital.

Abandoned bike

  • A blue Kent bicycle was found abandoned about 1 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Walnut Street.

Shattered window

  • Someone shattered the rear windshield of a car between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 5 p.m. Wednesday in a driveway in the 700 block of Prospect Avenue.

Fugitive driver

  • An officer tried to conduct a traffic stop about 11 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of South Route 83. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290.

Identity theft

  • A person in the 100 block of East Lake Street told police Monday that someone made several unauthorized purchases on her debit card.
