Eatery Trouble, Pit Bull Bite: Elmhurst Cops

A woman was upset with a mistake in her order at a local restaurant and blocked the drive-thru, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a restaurant disturbance, a pit bull bite, stolen cigarettes, trespassing, harassment and stolen jewelry, among others. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports.

Restaurant disturbance

  • Police responded to a disturbance about 10 p.m. Wednesday at Burger King, 620 W. North Ave. A woman blocked the drive-thru and yelled at employees because they got her order wrong. She was served with a no-trespass notice.

  • A woman came into the police station to report that her dog was bitten by a pit bull about 1:30 p.m. Monday inside Petco, 199 N. Route 83. The woman's dog suffered a cut and a bruise above his eye. An investigation is pending.

Cigarettes stolen

  • Someone stole four boxes of cigarettes about 5:30 a.m. Monday from a trailer in the parking lot at 782 N. Industrial Drive.

Trespassing

  • Residents of a house in the 500 block of North Evergreen Avenue told police that someone showed up and caused a scene. The person was given a no-trespass notice.

Harassment

  • A resident in the 400 block of North Addison Avenue told police Monday that a person filed multiple false reports with the state Department of Children and Family Services in an attempt to harass him. An investigation is pending.

Jewelry stolen

  • Someone stole a diamond ring, three rosaries and two picture books from a woman's apartment between July 1 and Oct. 2 in the 100 block of East Park Avenue.

Fraud

  • Elmhurst Toyota, 440 W. Lake St., told police Tuesday that a fraudulent letter was mailed to customers with a fraudulent check. All checks were flagged by the dealership's bank, and it appeared none had been cashed.

Car burglary

  • Police were alerted that two bags containing mail were found Tuesday in the 100 block of South York Street. An officer learned the found property was related to a car burglary in Oak Brook. The bags were given to Oak Brook police.

Car theft

  • A black 2017 Dodge Challenger was stolen between Feb. 9 and Feb. 11 at a house in the 800 block of South Fairfield Avenue. The theft was reported Wednesday.

Suspicious

  • A resident in the 600 block of North Kenilworth Avenue told police Wednesday that a suspect rode a bicycle on her property and said they attended the same high school. A few days later, the suspect mailed a handwritten letter to the woman. An investigation is pending.

Identity theft

  • A resident in the 100 block of South Villa Avenue told police Wednesday that a debt collector called her about an AT&T account she had not set up. The resident contacted AT&T's fraud department about the account.

Bicycle found

  • A purple Huffy Highland girls bicycle was found about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on a sidewalk in the 200 block of West Elm Park Avenue. The bike was placed into evidence for safekeeping.
