1. ICE Jail Unlikely In Elmhurst, Given State Law: Official (patch.com) — Elmhurst residents concerned about a rumored ICE jail proposal are getting new assurances from Alderman Guido Nardini, who says a recent Illinois law effectively blocks federal jails near homes, schools and other sensitive sites. He noted Elmhurst's dense development leaves no qualifying parcels, adding that the developer behind a southwest-side warehouse has pledged a deed restriction banning any immigration lockup there.
   

2. Woman Accused Of Biting, Kicking Elmhurst Cop In Traffic Stop (patch.com) — Elmhurst police recently reported a series of incidents, including a woman accused of kicking and biting an officer during a DUI stop and several arrests for assault, domestic battery and disorderly conduct. Officers also investigated a stolen car at Elmhurst Hospital, porch package theft, a fleeing driver, and multiple DUI cases on major local roads.
   

3. Elmhurst Sees Surge In Felony Drug Arrests (patch.com) — Elmhurst police made 10 felony drug possession arrests in just five days, most tied to a coordinated crackdown on fentanyl and other dangerous drugs moving along I-290 from Chicago. Nine separate incidents between Aug. 28 and Sept. 2 involved mostly suburban suspects, including two Elmhurst residents from South York Street, as local agencies teamed up to target trafficking routes.
   

4. North Central's BJ Sorg Grabs First CCIW Men's Cross Country Weekly Honor of the Season (cciw.org) — North Central College runner BJ Sorg earned the first CCIW men's cross country athlete-of-the-week honor after winning the heat-shortened NCCXC Invite. For Elmhurst residents, it's a reminder that Elmhurst University competes in this same conference, with local athletes soon lining up against Sorg's nationally ranked Cardinals at upcoming meets in Wheaton and Indiana.
   

5. Chicago Society Foundation announces James and Lillian Kulze Scholarship recipients (ampoleagle.com) — A graduate student at Elmhurst University, Madelyn Boylan, is among six Polish-heritage students nationwide receiving James and Lillian Kulze Scholarships from the Chicago Society Foundation. She'll receive $5,000 toward her master's in occupational therapy, while another student earns a $10,000 award, continuing a program that has distributed more than $250,000 since its inception.
