Elmhurst D-205 Hires Public Relations Director

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst School District 205 has hired a new public relations director, a position held on an interim basis by a consultant.

According to district records, Tonya Daniels was hired last Monday. Her official title is executive director for communications and community relations. On Tuesday, the school board is set to vote on Daniels' contract.

Most of the items up for the board's approval are included in its online agenda. But officials have apparently decided to keep Daniels' contract under wraps from the public until the board acts on it.

The board is also set to update the agreement for the interim executive director of communications and public relations. Since September, the interim director has been Faith Behr, whose contract was set to last through Dec. 22. A Naperville-based consultant, Behr makes $120 an hour with the district. Her proposed updated agreement is also being kept away from the public for now.

In early September, the public relations director's position became vacant with the exit of Beverly Redmond, who held the position for more than three years.
