ELMHURST, IL – The Elmhurst school board on Tuesday plans to name a new principal for Emerson Elementary School.

Other districts release the names of hirees before the school board votes. That happened with another district's hiring of York High School's principal.

But Elmhurst District 205 has historically kept that information a secret until the vote. Within minutes after a decision, the district issues an already-prepared news release to the public.

For non-administrator hires, the board releases names as part of its personnel report before the board votes.

In June, Sheleen DeLockery, Emerson Elementary's principal, is set to leave in June after seven years. It's unclear why. She did not return Patch's message when the district revealed the information in February.
