ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst sustained no damage during last week's storm, but some residents wondered why the city gave no alert, an official said Monday.

The city issues such alerts through its Everbridge system.

"The National Weather Service did not have Elmhurst in the (tornado) warning. However, we all know that severe weather sirens were set off by the county, so we're chasing that down as to the disconnect," City Manager Jim Grabowski told the City Council.

In the meantime, he said, the city changed its settings for alerts, ensuring they are given during both tornado warnings and watches.

Grabowski said the city is coordinating with the DuPage County Emergency Services Disaster Agency to determine what happened with the alerts.
