Elmhurst Likely To Stick With Trash Firm
A panel recommended the city keep the company for another three years. Officials did not go out to bid this time.
ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst City Council committee on Monday recommended extending the contract with its trash company by another three years.
The current five-year contract with Scottsdale, Arizona-based Republic Services is set to expire in March.
In 2017, Elmhurst went out to bid for the contract. It did not do so this time.

Under the proposed contract, residents would see annual 3 percent increases for the next three years. The service, including the collection schedule, is expected to remain the same.
The trash contract involves more than 13,000 households. Residents can rent rollout carts of different sizes for a monthly fee. They can dispose of more garbage by buying stickers.

The council's Public Works Committee unanimously approved the three-year extension of the contract.
The full council is expected to vote on the agreement next Tuesday.
