Elmhurst Man Eggs Neighbor's Home With Cameras Catching Moment: Cop

In other cases, police arrested seven people on retail theft charges at different stores.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving criminal defacement, disorderly conduct, retail theft, DUIs, theft of services and a mumbling man. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Criminal defacement

  • A 55-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 500 block of North Walnut Street was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of criminal defacement of property. Police said the man threw eggs at a neighbor's house. Her cameras captured him on video. He was released.

Disorderly conduct

  • A 56-year-old La Grange man was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Monday at Chase Bank, 534 W. St. Charles Road, on a disorderly conduct charge. Police said he created a disruption by arguing with an employee. He was released.

Retail theft

  • A 44-year-old Villa Park woman was arrested about 1 p.m. Monday at Goodwill Store, 675 W. North Ave., on a retail theft charge. She was released.
  • A 34-year-old man, with no town given, was arrested about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive, on two retail theft counts. Police said he committed one theft at the store and then returned later to do it again. He was released.
  • A 34-year-old Chicago woman was arrested about 2 p.m. Wednesday on charges of retail theft and unlawful possession of a theft detection device remover. Police said she removed detection devices from two pairs of shoes at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. She was released.
  • Two 20-year-old Addison men were arrested about 2 p.m. Tuesday on a retail theft charge. The incident was at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, police said. They were released.
  • A 31-year-old Berkeley man was arrested about 6 p.m. Wednesday on a retail theft charge. Police said he concealed a jar of cashews in his backpack at Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive. He was released.
  • A 36-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on a retail theft charge. Police said he admitted to stealing items at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. He was released.

DUI

  • A 53-year-old Des Plaines woman was arrested about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Road and York Street on charges of DUI and improper lane usage. She was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 49-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 2 a.m. Tuesday at York Street and Grand Avenue on charges of DUI, transportation of open alcohol, improper lane usage and improper use of a turn signal. He was taken to the police station and then released.

Scooter found

  • Someone left a Segway Ninebot electronic scooter Saturday in a front lawn in the 300 block of North Walnut Street. The scooter was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Theft of services

  • Enterprise Leasing, 856 N. York St., told police Monday that a customer was supposed to have returned a rental car on Aug. 30, but still has not. An officer was unable to contact the person.

Mumbling man

  • Officers were called about a man who was mumbling and hitting his face about 3 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of North York Street. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Financial scams

  • On Monday afternoon, at Interstate 290 and York Street, an officer found a black Toyota Camry that the Lake County Sheriff's Office believed was connected to financial scams targeting seniors. The two people in the car were detained and taken to the Elmhurst police station, where Lake County detectives took over.

911 hang-up

  • Police investigated a 911 hang-up. It occurred about 8:30 p.m. Monday and was traced to a home in the 600 block of South Spring Road. A person confronted someone else at a house. The two were separated by the time officers arrived. They did not want police involvement.

Trespassing

  • On Tuesday, Elmhurst Hospital, 125 S. Prospect Ave., asked police to serve a person with a no-trespass notice. Police did so.

Wire transfer scam

  • A resident in the 700 block of North Eastland Street told police Tuesday that someone called her and demanded she wire money. The resident sent the wire transfer and later realized she had been scammed.
