Elmhurst Museum Seeks Outdoor Performance Area
The history museum wants to hold concerts, theatrical performances and storytelling events.

ELMHURST, IL – The Elmhurst History Museum is seeking to use a state grant of nearly $700,000 to build an outdoor performance space on its campus at 120 E. Park Ave.
According to a city memo, the performance space would enhance the museum's effort to engage families by holding concerts, storytelling events and theatrical performances.
In 2021, the City Council's Public Affairs and Safety Committee approved the city museum's application for state money.

The performance space would be covered, include a stage and be connected to electrical power for speakers and sound systems, museum director Dave Oberg said in the memo.
Mindful of the neighbors, the performances would be during regular museum hours and special evening performances would end no later than 8:30 p.m., Oberg said.

The performance area would be south of the Glos Mansion.
The museum is expected to present the concept Monday to the council's Development, Planning and Zoning Committee. The matter next goes to the city's Plan Commission, which makes a recommendation. The final decision rests with the full council.
