Elmhurst Poised To Hike Starting Pay

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst-hired consultant recently showed that the city's starting salaries for nonunion jobs are 7 percent lower than the labor market.

On Monday, a City Council committee is set to consider raising starting salaries for nonunion positions by 9 percent.

According to a memo, the city would maintain its plan for two years, until the consultant conducts another market analysis.

The proposal would take effect Jan. 1 and have an annual impact of $27,000, the city said.

The consultant, Pontifex, also conducted studies in 2013, 2017 and 2019.
