Elmhurst Ruckus Involves Overgrown Lawn: Cops
A resident threatened someone the city hired to mow his lawn, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving an overgrown lawn, a disturbance, a mysterious hole, a sexual assault, a car burglary, damage and a scam. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Overgrown lawn
- A man became confrontational and threatened a contractor who was hired by the city to mow his overgrown lawn about 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of North Shadywood Lane. The man was cited by code enforcement.
Disturbance

- A person was seen throwing a firework about 9:30 p.m. Monday at a house in the 400 block of North Ridgeland Avenue. This is the third disturbance reported in the block in recent days.
Mysterious hole
- A woman found a hole in the ground near her front door with mud spattered on the house and burn marks on the sidewalk. It is believed to have happened about 10 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of West Vallette Street. The homeowner is uncertain how the damage happened. An investigation is pending.
Sexual assault

- An officer responded Monday to a patient at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road, for a report of a sexual assault that occurred two days earlier. The report was forwarded to police in Miami Beach, where it happened.
Car burglary
- Someone burglarized an unlocked car between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. May 5 in the 400 block of Schiller Street. A wallet was stolen. The owner said he noticed several fraudulent charges on his credit card. An investigation is pending. The theft was reported more than a week later.
Damage
- Someone damaged two wooden signs with orange spray paint about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road.
- Someone damaged a TV, a computer monitor and a wall mount about 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. Charges are pending.
Scam
- A resident in the 200 block of North Addison Avenue told police Tuesday that she responded to fraudulent activity on her computer from a person claiming to be with Microsoft tech support. The victim was told that money from her account had been transferred to China. An officer responded to Fifth Third Bank and was able to stop the resident's transaction from being completed, suspecting she was the victim of a scam.
