Elmhurst Students Receive Awards from PTA Competition
Elmhurst District 205 students were recently honored in the Illinois PTA Reflections Art Competition.
ELMHURST, IL - Elmhurst District 205 students were recently honored in the Illinois PTA Reflections Art Competition.
According to a release from the district, the state competition awarded honorable mentions to four students and two Special Artist Awards to students from District 205. Noveena Thakar, from Jefferson Elementary, will also advance to the national competition in literature with her entry, "How I Got My Favorite Color."
The students who received honorable mentions at the state level were:

- Amelia Morrow, Field School: “Hearing Aids” in Literature
- Alejandro Goetz, Field School: “The Tree of Me” in Visual Arts
- Isabella Nichols, Emerson School: “Pulled Under” in Visual Arts
- Maddie Devine, Jefferson School: “Brighter Than The Sun” in Dance
Joseph Zbiegiel, Emerson School: "2 Pikachu" in Visual Arts, and Anisa Connor, Fischer School: "Midnight Moon" in Visual Arts also received Special Artist Awards from the competition.
Reflections is the National PTA arts program that asks children to get creative. Students are invited to submit works of art in any of six different categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. The theme for the 2016-2017 program is "What is your story?"
