Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra Presents "Bach's Passion"

You are invited to join us for one of the greatest musical experiences of all time, Johann Sebastian Bach’s Passion According to St. John, when the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra, the Apollo Chorus of Chicago and a stellar cast of soloists, under the baton of Music Director and Conductor Stephen Alltop, join forces in one of the most dramatic and moving sacred pieces ever composed. “With the combined power of the ESO and the Apollo Chorus, along with five distinguished soloists from the world of opera, our listeners will hear a performance of utmost passion and musical excellence,” notes Maestro Alltop. The orchestra and chorus will be joined by soprano Bahareh Poureslami, countertenor Ryan Belongie, tenor Steven Soph (the Evangelist), tenor Ryan Townsend Strand and bass Kyle Jensen, to create an unforgettable afternoon of music-making. The concert, a highlight of the 2019-20 season, takes place on Sunday, March 15 at 3:00 pm at the ESO’s home venue, Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church in Elmhurst.

The soloists’ appearances are underwritten by a generous gift from ­­­­Keith and Irmgard Olson.

Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church is located at 149 W. Brush Hill Rd in Elmhurst. The church has accessible parking and facilities; parking is free. The concert experience at ECRC is enhanced by the informative and lively discussion, Behind the Music Stand, led by audience favorite Dr. Ted Hatmaker, which takes place at 1:45 p.m. prior to the concert.

Concert tickets, which can be purchased on the ESO website www.elmhurstsymphony.org or by calling the Box Office at 630-941-0202, are $38 for adults, $35 for seniors, and $12 for students.
