About 8 p.m. Jan. 13, the northbound driver of a 2001 Honda Odyssey told police that he was turning left into McDonald's, 920 N. York St., according to the report. He said he was clear to turn into the restaurant, but was struck by the police car.

The police officer said he was heading south when the Odyssey pulled in front of him, turning into the McDonald's drive-thru. The officer tried to avoid a crash by veering to the right, but was unable to do so, police said.
