Leslie Goddard portrays suffragist Alice Paul
Free online program commemorates 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment

This year, Americans commemorate the 100th anniversary of the passing of the 19th Amendment, a landmark legislation that changed the constitution to give women the right to vote. One of the most prominent leaders of the women’s rights movement in the early 20th century was Alice Paul, a tireless feminist and suffragist who used radical tactics to bring attention to the women’s suffrage movement.
In honor of the centennial, the Elmhurst History Museum presents “Alice Paul: Winning Votes for Women,” a dramatic portrayal by first-person history presenter Leslie Goddard. The online program starts on September 27, 2020 and will be available on the museum’s web site through October 11. This special prerecorded presentation is free and can be accessed at elmhursthistory.org on the Programs page.
Goddard is a historian, author and actress who is known for her engaging, inspiring and educational portrayals of women from the past. Her program on Alice Paul will reveal the life story of a fascinating and fearless feminist who was unrelenting in her pursuit of rights for women.
