Man Choked, Punched In Elmhurst: Cops

In another situation, officers responded to a child custody argument, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving an attack, a child custody dispute, harassment, retail theft, a scam, disorderly conduct, theft and battery. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Attack

  • A man told police that someone choked and punched him about 1 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of North West Avenue. An investigation is pending.

  • Police responded to a dispute over child custody about 11:30 a.m. in the 300 block of East Van Buren Street. Neither party was able to provide documents showing custody rights. The child remained in the custody of her mother.

Disorderly conduct

  • A person was looking into the windows about 1 p.m. Thursday at the Madison Early Childhood Center, 130 W. Madison St. The person was issued a no-trespass notice.

  • A stranger left a note on a woman's car overnight Aug. 27 in the 100 block of East Brush Hill Road. The note was considered suspicious. An investigation is pending.
  • A woman at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Ave., told police Thursday that a person had been harassing her and making inappropriate statements. The woman was provided information on a civil no-contact order. An investigation is pending.

Retail theft

  • Three women stole meat and alcohol that filled a shopping cart about 1 p.m. Sunday at Jewel, 944 S. York St. They left in a Ford Edge SUV, driving recklessly through the parking lot. All three were described as black, having long braided hair and 25 to 30 years old. The first woman was described as 155 to 165 pounds and wearing leather pants and black sneakers. The second one was described as 155 to 160 pounds and wearing a gray skirt, a black short-sleeve shirt and gym shoes. The third was said to be 170 to 175 pounds and wearing gray tight-fitting shorts, a gray tight-fitting short-sleeve shirt and white gym shoes.

Scam

  • A resident in the 400 block of West Alma Avenue told police Thursday that someone impersonated a customer service representative and obtained the resident's personal information. An investigation is pending.

Theft

  • A resident in the 100 block of North Willow Road told police Friday that she last saw her phone on a chair near her front door. It later went missing.
  • A black Trek Dual Sport bicycle was stolen between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday near the main entrance of York High School's football field.
  • A woman left her wallet about 6 p.m. Sunday at Jewel, 944 S. York St. It was stolen. Someone tried to use her credit card, but the charges were declined. An investigation is pending.

Battery

  • A woman told police Sunday that a patient struck her and was being aggressive about 5 p.m. Sunday at Chapters Living of Elmhurst nursing home, 123 W. Brush Hill Road. An officer found the patient calm and cooperative. The patient was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Damage

  • Someone smashed the driver's side window of a black Chevrolet Corvette and stole it about 3 a.m. Monday at Al Piemonte Buick, 364 W. Grand Ave.
