Man Points Knife At Elmhurst Officers: Cops
In another case, a man struck another person several times, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving aggravated assault, domestic battery, a scam featuring a fake boss, a liquor issue, DUI and fraud. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Aggravated assault
- Officers responded to a domestic disturbance about 10 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of East Schiller Street. They found the suspect with a large knife in the lobby of the complex. The man pointed the knife at officers and stepped toward them before he was arrested. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital. Police said he would be charged with three counts of aggravated assault once the hospital released him.

- A 33-year-old Chicago man was arrested Monday at Clarion Inn, 933 S. Riverside Drive, on two counts of domestic battery. His arrest was based on an incident about 12:30 a.m. Monday at Clarion Inn, 933 S. Riverside Drive. Police said he struck a victim several times. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Fake boss
- A resident in the 400 block of North Emery Lane told police Tuesday that he bought multiple Apple gift cards after receiving a text message with a request from a person claiming to be his employer's CEO. When he received more texts asking for more money, he realized he had been scammed.

- Police assisted the Illinois Liquor Commission about 3:30 p.m. Monday at Krafted Burger Bar, 111 E. First St.
DUI
- A 32-year-old Des Plaines man was arrested shortly before midnight Monday at Shell gas station, 218 E. Butterfield Road, on charges of DUI, possession of a controlled substance and improper lighting. He was taken to the police station and then released.
- A 34-year-old Hoffman Estates woman was arrested shortly before midnight Wednesday at Interstate 290 and York Street on charges of DUI, improper lane usage, driving an uninsured car and improper lighting. She was taken to the police station and then released.
Fraud
- A resident in the 600 block of South Hillside Avenue told police Monday that a stranger emailed the resident's employer using a form to change the resident's direct deposit information to another bank account. Three paychecks were deposited into the other account.
- A person bought a used car about 2 p.m. Feb. 10 at Napleton Kia, 727 W. Grand Ave., and presented two personal Huntington Bank checks. Both checks were returned because the account was closed. The dealership informed the police Wednesday. An investigation is pending.
- A resident in the 200 block of North Addison Avenue told police Wednesday that someone made a fake Facebook account using the resident's personal information in an attempt to sell a car online. The resident checked with his bank and discovered suspicious activity.
Stolen bike
- Someone stole a blue and red custom BMX bicycle between Friday and Monday from the residential bike storage area in Butterfield Towers, 260 E. Butterfield Road.
Fall
- An officer responded with medics about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to York and Crestview, where a man lost his balance and fell, injuring his shoulder. The man was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
