Mazzochi Hosting Holiday Diaper Drive to Benefit Local Mothers in Need

Rep. Mazzochi is collecting diapers of various sizes, wipes, soaps, ointments, and other related products from November 10th-18th

State Representative Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst) is hosting a holiday diaper drive to help benefit struggling local mothers this winter.

“As we move on from Halloween and into the season of being thankful and the giving of gifts, I am asking for the community’s help in keeping babies in need clean, dry, and healthy this holiday season,” Rep. Mazzochi said. “Unfortunately, thanks to federal rules, Illinois mothers down on their luck cannot use SNAP benefits to purchase diapers and related products and inflation is making an already costly problem worse.”

Infants require up to 12 diapers per day, at a cost of $70 to $80 per month per child, roughly $930 per year, according to the National Diaper Bank Network, a non-profit working to eliminate diaper need. Those numbers are rising as disposable diaper prices have jumped 20% over the past year according to the latest numbers from June 2022.
