Newly Elected District 205 Board Members Take Seat

New board member Kara Caforio took her seat, as well as incumbents Jim Collins and Margaret Harrell.

ELMHURST, IL - The newly elected members of the Elmhurst District 205 Board of Education were seated on Tuesday, April 25. New board member Kara Caforio took her seat, as well as incumbents Jim Collins and Margaret Harrell.

Caforio won the April election for her spot on the board, and has been an Elmhurst resident for 13 years. According to a release from the district, she has three children who attend District 205, and has been heavily involved in the Elmhurst PTA.

The district said Caforio holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, with a specialization in mathematics, from Elmhurst College. She is a former second grade teacher in Glendale Heights, fifth grade teacher in Lake Zurich and a management and technology consultant with Accenture, LLP.

The board also presented former board member Emily Bastedo with a plaque honoring her four years of service.

"Emily has been an excellent board member for the past four years, and we will miss her insights and contributions," board president Shannon Ebner said in a release.
