Performance Metrics For Elmhurst School Buses?

Such measures are being negotiated for next year's bus contract, an official said.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst School District 205 is negotiating to include performance measures in the contract with its school bus service, an official said last week.

This effort is being made after school board members suggested such metrics at last month's board meeting.

At the meeting, members were presented with a proposed increase of 12 percent for next year's contract with the school bus provider, Cincinnati-based First Student. This year's hike was 17 percent.

The proposals for performance measures are now being exchanged between attorneys, said Chris Whelton, the district's assistant superintendent for finance.

Most districts are seeing similar increases as the result of national bus driver shortages, which are causing wages to rise.
