Sandburg Students Ranked Nationally In National French Contest

15 students from Sandburg are nationally ranked in the top 30 according to a National French exam.

ELMHURST, IL — 22 Sandburg Middle School eighth grade students participated in Le Grand Concours, a National French Competition, held annually in February. The district said students are tested on their written, oral and listening comprehension and are evaluated by the American Association of Teachers of French.

Of the 75,000 students participating across the United States, 15 students from Sandburg are nationally ranked in the top 30 and seven of those students received medal honors and eight received honorable mentions.

  • Gold- Mira Shortt, 97 percent, National rank 3
  • Silver- Anna Lyons, 90 percent, National rank 8
  • Silver- Joanna Menendie, 90 percent, National rank 8
  • Silver- Maggie Templeman, 90 percent, National rank 8
  • Silver- Paige Prather, 89 percent, National rank 9
  • Bronze- Katie Stumpf, 84 percent, National rank 12
  • Bronze- Bradley Dow, 83 percent, National rank 13
