A Sidewalk Where None Is In Elmhurst?
The city continues with its plan for a sidewalk along this major street.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst is poised to approve more money for an engineer to plan a sidewalk on a portion of North York Street.
According to a city memo, the City Council is considering spending $26,000 more on Civiltech Engineering.
The plan is to build a sidewalk on the west side of North York between Lake Street and Crestview Avenue. No sidewalk is there now.

The city said the project will involve a lot of work related to changing the Interstate 290 bridge for the sidewalk.
The design also includes lighting, fencing and trees.

Over the last few years, the city received $1.5 million in grants for the project.
The city expects to bid out the work next year.
City staff proposed the increase for Civiltech because of the "magnitude of additional efforts" to get the state's approval.
On Monday, the city's Public Works Committee recommended the increase to the full City Council.
