Sleeping Stranger, Stolen Cash: Elmhurst Cops
A resident called police after finding an unknown person sleeping in the house.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a sleeping stranger, stolen money, unaccounted-for trucks, a suspicious person, check fraud and an injured animal. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Sleeping stranger
- A resident in the 200 block of North Addison Avenue told police Wednesday about a stranger sleeping in the resident's house. After officers arrived, it was determined the person was a friend of the resident's son.

- A resident in the 200 block of East Fremont Avenue told police Wednesday that she had dropped her purse outside of her house about 4 p.m. Wednesday. When it was returned, money was missing. An investigation is pending.
Trucks unaccounted for
- Trans Chicago Trucking, 776 N. York St., told police Tuesday that a customer failed to return a number of semi-tractors after failing to make payments. Two of them were found, while two are still unaccounted for. An investigation is pending.
Prescription issue

- A person in the 400 block of West Butterfield Road told police Monday that several patients reported not receiving their prescribed medications. An investigation is pending.
Suspicious person
- A person walked up to a house and looked around while a white Ford Edge was nearby in the 400 block of Emery Lane. The suspect entered the vehicle and left the area soon after. The incident was about 6 p.m. Wednesday. An investigation is pending.
Check fraud
- A woman told police Monday that someone stole a check she placed in the mail and changed the amount. The check was deposited into an account. The check was placed in the mail March 5 near Cottage Hill and Park.
Theft
- Someone tried to enter a secured storage trailer and stole several tools between Friday and Monday in the 900 block of Country Line Road. The victim was a business, R.W. Dunteman.
Injured animal
- A resident reported an injured animal in her backyard about 5 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of North Addison Avenue. The animal was removed from her property without any problems.
Harassment
- A woman in the 900 block of South Spring Road told police Tuesday that her ex-husband has been harassing her current boyfriend through text messages about the parenting of their children. The suspect was told not to have any further contact, unless it was about picking up and dropping off their children or medical emergencies.
Drunk person
- Police and medics responded about 5 p.m. Tuesday to a call about a drunk person on the ground in the 500 block of South Hillside Avenue. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Converter thefts
- A catalytic converter was stolen from a car between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of South Route 83. Another converter was taken from a car between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. the same day in the 200 block of North Addison Avenue. An investigation is pending.
Drugs
- Police were called about 1 a.m. Thursday in the 900 block of North York Street about a person asleep behind the wheel. The person was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. The person was released without charges. An investigation is pending.
