Support Funding for Alzheimer's Research

Appeal to Rep. Mike Quigley to Support NIH Research Funding Increase

As we all try adjusting to a “new normal”, the COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the critical importance of medical research. After my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, I realized I needed to become a vocal advocate for research funding for a cure or prevention.

Sharing my family’s story helps lawmakers understand the gravity of the disease and opens a path to ask for their support in funding Alzheimer’s research. Thankfully, Congressman Mike Quigley is my legislator and he has been incredibly supportive. As Congress addresses the needs of our nation’s most vulnerable impacted by COVID-19, they’re also continuing their work to address another devastating disease affecting millions of Americans: Alzheimer’s.

I ask Representative Quigley to again play a vital role by increasing funding for Alzheimer’s and dementia research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) by $354 million and by supporting $20 million to implement the BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act. By supporting these critical initiatives, Congress has the opportunity to provide millions of Americans like me with a sense of hope.

I humbly ask Congressman Quigley for his continued support – as it is only through increased research funding that we will discover new ways to treat and eventually prevent Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
