The man led local police officers on a chase after he committed retail theft in Willowbrook, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – A man who is suspected of being involved in the attack of a store worker in Elmhurst pleaded guilty to crimes in Willowbrook last week, according to public records.
Paris Durr, 32, of Chicago, pleaded guilty in DuPage County Court to burglary and aggravated battery in a public place. These offenses were related to a retail theft in Willowbrook, authorities said.

Late last month, the police department released the report from September 17 when an officer spotted Durr's car near Whole Foods on Route 83. Durr sped away when he noticed the squad car, the report said.
He then led officers on a chase to Oak Brook. There, officers placed tire-deflating devices across the road.

Durr tried to avoid the devices by going off the road, but he couldn't get out of a ditch, so officers arrested him, police said.
In the Sept. 17 report, police said Durr was involved in an incident in which a suspect struck an employee at Jewel at 153 E. Schiller St. eight days earlier on Sept. 9. The worker was taken to the hospital. The incident occurred while Durr and another man were trying to commit retail theft, police said.
No one has been charged in that incident. Police have declined to release the report in that case, saying it is an ongoing investigation.
