Tired of Driving Around Downtown Looking for Parking? Soon You Can Just Valet It.

Six businesses south of the UP tracks have bought into a valet parking service for a three-month trial period.

Drivers tired of searching for parking in order to visit an Elmhurst City Centre establishment soon will be able to drop their car off with a valet.

Local property manager Frank Catalano brought the idea before the City Council's Public Affairs and Safety Committee on Monday. The valet stands would be located in front of 100 South Chop House, at 100 S. York St., and at Pazzi di Pizza, 105 S. York St.

Catalano said the effort is a partnership between six downtown businesses located south of the Union Pacific Railroad tracks: Cafe Amano, Flight 112 Wine House, Charlie's and Pints, in addition to 100 South and Pazzi di Pizza.

The service will be free for restaurant patrons, $3 for those who do not have their ticket validated.

Individual businesses, such as Roberto's Ristorante on Spring Road, already offer valet parking, Catalano said. So do businesses in downtown La Grange.

"I just feel if I have two stands out there with big signs, it'd be a good idea to make everyone aware of what’s happening," Catalano said Monday.

Visitors to any City Centre establishment could use the stands.

Catalano said the service will begin soon for a three-month trial period.

"We'll test it for three months and see where it goes," he said.
